Japan and Iceland to kill whales again

Recent news reports that Japan and Iceland will be resuming their whale hunting programmes are going against the international trend of whale conservation and have been met with international backlash.Last December, Japan announced it would be withdrawing from the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and resuming commercial whaling this July.

Developing an appetite for whale conservation

Recent images of the Faroe Islands’ pilot whale hunt have again sparked renewed anger from conservationists and animal activists from around the world. Taken at the bay of Sandavágur on the western island of Vágar, the images showed dozens of pilot whales herded into the bay where they were killed, turning the sea red with the blood of the whales.
