The International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) is a knowledge-based platform specifically focusing on renewable energy and energy demand management. It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia.
The inaugural summit was held in November 2012 and being a biennial event, 2018 will be the 4th summit. The summit spans a period of two days and has two components: the conference and mini exhibition.
The people of Malaysia are blessed with abundant sunshine, hydropower and resources for bioenergy. Globally, renewable energy, especially the ones with zero marginal cost, are predicted to increase rapidly. In this regard, the 4th ISES 2018 will focus on trending issues such as scaling up of sustainable energy deployment by reviewing energy policies across borders and within the nation, grid issues with high solar PV penetration, energy storage solutions, addressing rural electrification and financing sustainable energy projects. There will also be a mini exhibition by companies and stakeholders from this industry.
The ISES platform is intended to spawn fresh ideas and lessons learned among thought leaders from various nations so the learning curve on future energy can be greatly reduced. Admittedly there are many issues to address in order to truly upscale the sustainable energy agenda.
The future of energy will be framed by the 6Ds: decentralized, distributed, deregulated, democratized, decarbonized and digitized. It is within this very framework that the topics of this summit will be based upon. This coming summit is special because we will have deep dive workshops (DDWs) and plenary sessions.
ISES 2018 will introduce blockchain technologies as a possible digital platform to advance the sustainable energy agenda. Even more importantly, for the first time in the history of ISES, the Sarawak State Government will be co-hosting the event.
Register early for the conference and exhibition and be part of the summit that acknowledges the future of energy is in sustainable energy, and that the journey to future energy begins here.
