Myanmar's State Counsellor denies genocide accusations at ICJ

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi took centre-stage at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday to deny accusations of genocide made by Gambia over the government crackdown in northern Rakhine State two years ago.

The Myanmar de facto leader built her case by recounting the history of Rakhine, and attempting to establish credibility and accountability for her government. 

“Incomplete and misleading picture of Myanmar” has been painted for the situation, she said, accusing Gambia of presenting “selected factual prepositions.” – Myanmar Times

Malaysian police to question Anwar Ibrahim over sexual assault claim

The Malaysian police will be recording statements from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Anwar Ibrahim after his former assistant accused the politician of sexual assault.

"Statements from Anwar Ibrahim and several related witnesses will be taken as soon as appropriate appointment times are set," Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Huzir Mohamed said on Wednesday (Dec 11). – The Straits Times

Kingdom’s trade with Vietnam rises 13.8%

The two-way trade between Cambodia and Vietnam reached $4.4 billion, an increase of 13.8 percent from January to October, according to local media quoting a Vietnam trade body’s figures.

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cambodia Chamber of Commerce jointly organised a business forum in Phnom Penh on Saturday when the Vietnam trade body announced the trade volume figure. – Khmer Times

FFP fate hangs in the balance

The Future Forward Party's (FFP) fate hangs in the balance related to its loan controversy, now that the Election Commission (EC) has rejected the party spokesperson's claim that the case is politically motivated.

On Monday, FFP spokeswoman Pannika Wanich claimed the EC's handling of the case was politically motivated as she revealed a so-called leaked document. – Bangkok Post

NA Chairwoman holds talks with leader of Russia’s State Duma

Việt Nam treasured and was determined to strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân said during a meeting with Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav V. Volodin in Moscow on Wednesday as part of her official visit to Russia.
