UK plastic waste found near Ipoh

Plastic waste from Britain intended for recycling had been found dumped at a wasteland near Ipoh. 

Last year, 665,000 tonnes of plastic waste were exported by the UK. Until 2018, China was the biggest recipient. However, the Chinese government recently imposed a ban on the export. – New Straits Times.

14 body scanners in operation at Changi Airport’s terminals

Travellers at Changi Airport can expect to walk through body scanners more often with 14 machines now installed across the four terminals, as part of moves to boost security amid increasing threat levels. – The Straits Times.

Weak opposition to undermine House

The House of Representatives is expected to become dry land for critical voices as the Gerindra Party is projected to lead a weak opposition to balance the allies of incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo that have become the majority legislature. 

Projected to become the third-largest party in the House with 78 seats, which is led by losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, will be the only party from the opposition camp that will secure leadership position at the House. – The Jakarta Post

Duterte to PMA grads: Serve, die for country

Instructing them to serve and die for the country, President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday commissioned 261 graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2019 into service as junior officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. – Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Two new firsts for BSP
