1. Digital Journalist

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a creative and talented individual to join The ASEAN Post as a Digital Journalist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating original content which is engaging, descriptive, predictive and prescriptive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying key storylines, events, trends and sentiments in order to produce analysis on geopolitics, renewable energy, markets, technology and lifestyle developments around the ASEAN region.
  • Required to develop content which is engaging and analytical.
  • Liaise with the respective Embassies, High Commissions, Think Tanks, Research Institutes and Government Agencies that The ASEAN Post is working with in order to source strategic content to drive brand value. 
  • Collaborate with the in-house Visual Team for cross platform content production.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Applicants must possess at least a Degree in Journalism, Business, Finance, Economics or other relevant qualifications with a minimum of 7 years work experience.
  • A writer with excellent language skills and exceptional writing technique.
  • Familiar with House Styles and its development.
  • Familiar with content offering and practices of International News Agencies.
  • Familiar with International Reportage Standards.
  • Must have a good number of local and regional contacts to leverage on in order to deliver content that is credible based on accurate sentiments on the ground.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in delivery of content.
  • Creative, innovative and very organized.
  • Good time management and always punctual.

2. Visual Journalist

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone to join The ASEAN Post as a Visual Journalist. This is a key role for the organization and requires an experienced video editor who is able to produce creative videos of good quality. The candidate must have an in depth understanding across all verticals that is of importance to The ASEAN Post.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to handle a project from conceptualisation to final video production.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented and must know what makes videos an effective medium for storytelling.
  • Produce videos for a wide range of audiences and clients (i.e. corporate videos, advertisement, documentary, live events, etc.).
  • Ability to identify the right social media platform channel for a particular content by understanding target audience appetite.
  • Staying abreast with new trends in content and technology in motion graphics and video production.
  • Keeping up-to-date technologically with new media, video production and digital editing equipment.
  • Select and edit music and soundtracks to complement the videos produced.
  • Evaluate and select scenes from multiple footage libraries thoroughly.
  • Edit scenes for clarity and seamless story continuity.
  • Continuously discover and incorporate new and innovative editing techniques
  • Archive creation and management.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in related field(s).
  • Must be proficient in Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Must have explicit experience in commercial production and episodic content.
  • Must have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong creative concept capabilities.
  • Must be able to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects proactively.
  • Must be able to cope in a fast-paced environment and deal with people from different backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Must be able to meet project deadlines and work long hours, if needed.
