Three men charged with terrorism

A farmer and a burger seller were charged in the Sessions Court here today with terrorism-related offences, allegedly committed last year.

The two men, from Sungai Petani, Kedah, were alleged to have entered Jogjakarta, through Jakarta, in Indonesia, to carry out terrorism-related acts. They were charged with committing the offence at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (Klia2) at 6.55am on April 26 last year. – New Straits Times

FFP boss 'still eligible' to run for PM 

The Future Forward Party (FFP) is insisting on nominating its leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit as a prime ministerial candidate on behalf of the seven-party alliance led by the Pheu Thai Party, FFP spokeswoman Pannika Wanich said.

Ms Pannika said Mr Thanathorn is eligible to vie for the post even though he is suspended from MP duties by a Constitutional Court order. The court last week ordered Mr Thanathorn to stop performing his MP duties until it reaches a ruling on his alleged breach of media shareholding rules. – Bangkok Post

Hun Sen asks Japan to deliver message to the US

Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday requested Japan deliver a message to the United States saying that Cambodia is still willing to salvage its relationship with the US, a government official said yesterday.

The US-Cambodia relationship has been deteriorating due to perceived democratic and human rights setbacks, and accusations that the US colluded with former opposition leader Kem Sokha, who is awaiting trial on treason charges, to topple the government. – Khmer Times

Prabowo flies to Dubai, Vienna amid simmering tension after May 22 riots

Presidential candidate and Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto left Indonesia on Tuesday morning for a trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and Vienna, amid speculation that his party was linked to the May 22 riot. 

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, a Gerindra deputy chairman, confirmed that Prabowo would continue to Vienna for business purposes, saying that the trip had been planned long ago but postponed because of the April 17 elections. – The Jakarta Post

Tatmadaw disputes Amnesty accusations

The Tatmadaw (military) has decried as baseless and without merit new charges by Amnesty International that systematic atrocities are being committed against civilians in Rakhine State as part of the military offensive against the Arakan Army (AA). – Myanmar Times
