85-year-old Ampang woman found dead with hands tied, head covered with cloth

An elderly woman was found dead at her home in Tasik Tambahan Ampang here, on Thursday, with her hands tied and her head covered with a piece of cloth.

The remains of the 85-year-old woman were discovered at 5.30pm, said Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Azmi Yusoff.

“The body was sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement last night. – New Straits Times

Anutin backs spray ban

Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, on Thursday voiced his strong support for a ban on toxic herbicides paraquat, glyphosate, and chlorpyrifos -- a stance shared by the Agriculture and Cooperatives and Industry ministries.

Mr Anutin expressed his backing for the ban after Thursday's meeting of the committee responsible for controlling occupational and environmental diseases. – Bangkok Post

Activist monks vow to support fight for new constitution

If attempts to amend the Constitution in the parliament fail, the people will call for a new constitution, said one of the monks who led the so-called “Saffron Revolution” in 2007.

Mogok Yay Pu Sayadaw said the monks who joined the revolution will support anyone who tries to amend or abolish the 2008 Constitution, which he described as a cause of disunity in the country. – Myanmar Times

Capital’s condo supply to reach 295,000 by 2030: VTrust

Phnom Penh will see a steady rise in the supply of condominium units in the next ten years, reaching 295,000 in 2030, according to VTrust Appraisal.

Hoem Seiha, VTrust Appraisal research director, said that, on average, the supply will grow by 19,000 units per year. – Khmer Times

Busted sex den offered 51 Chinese women

Authorities rescued 51 Chinese women from another prostitution den catering to the rising population of mainland Chinese in Metro Manila, this time, in a yet-to-open apartment building in Parañaque City late on Wednesday.

Police and city officials raided the sex den, which officially was advertised as “Manila Wellness Spa,” on the third floor of Diamond Bay Towers on Roxas Boulevard, Barangay Baclaran, at 11:45 p.m. – Philippine Daily Inquirer
