Making Vietnam’s textile industry sustainable

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Vietnam are collaborating to transform Vietnam’s bourgeoning textile and apparel industry into a more sustainable one. The project was launched this month and will be carried out from 2018 to 2020.

Weaving was also a communal activity, allowing for social interaction with other women in their communities. With the advent of mass-produced industrial textiles, the traditional art of silk and cotton weaving has been pushed back mainly into the domain of healing rituals and ceremonial purposes.
