The world is facing a global care crisis that we must address urgently.When children live in unstable family environments or lose crucial family bonds at an early age, it can have irreversible consequences on the rest of their lives.This is what we see in our work, day in and day out.We see it when we meet children like eight-month-old Aleksander and his 10-year-old sister Natalyia, who both live in Ukraine. Tragically, they recently lost their mother who was raising them as a single parent.

Pregnancy Discrimination In Southeast Asia

In Southeast Asia, there is a growing number of women rising through the ranks, starting companies and deciding on industry policy. Despite these achievements, women, especially mothers, still experience discrimination at work. According to a survey by the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) in Malaysia, more than 40 percent of women in the workforce experience pregnancy discrimination.

Is Singapore getting too expensive for children?

Last week, a news channel based in Singapore quoted the country’s Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) as saying that about one-fifth of childcare centres in Singapore will charge higher fees next year. Later, in an interview with the same news channel, Manpower Minister Josephine Teo said that there was “some fairness” in these 330 child centres raising their fees.
