America’s Tragedy

It has been a calamity for the United States (US) that, when two national tragedies – the COVID-19 crisis and the country’s legacy of racism – collided this spring, the occupant of the White House was an unstable person, totally unfit to govern.President Donald Trump’s inability to cope with the pandemic has so far led to more than 112,000 deaths, one of the world’s highest per capita mortality rates for COVID-19, with the coronavirus still spreading to areas not previously hit.

The Worst Yet To Come For Hong Kong

China’s decision to crack down on Hong Kong with a new security law has shocked the world. But to those who read the resolution issued last November by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), it comes as no surprise. In that document’s section pertaining to Hong Kong, the CPC signalled its intention to assert full control over the former British colony.
